Dashing Coons is a small, TICA-registered European Maine Coon cattery located in Ballwin, Missouri — in the heart of the St. Louis metro. Our program is intentionally small: we keep a maximum of three breeding females so that every kitten receives direct, personal attention from day one.

What makes Dashing Coons a European Maine Coon cattery?

European Maine Coons are bred from lines developed in Scandinavia and continental Europe, and are known for their larger bone structure, more pronounced muzzle, and dramatic coat. Our queens and sires trace back to those European bloodlines. We select for temperament, structure, and coat quality — not just appearance — so the kittens we place are built to be companions first.

Where exactly is the cattery located?

We are based in Ballwin, Missouri, a suburb on the western edge of the St. Louis metro. In-person visits are available by appointment so you can meet the kittens and the parents before committing. Dashing Coons is based in Ballwin, Missouri, serving the St. Louis metro. Our sires and family support base are in southern Illinois, just across the river — making us a natural fit for families on both sides of the metro.

What coat patterns and traits do you specialize in?

Our primary focus is black smoke and blue smoke Maine Coons — coats that shift dramatically from root to tip and develop more depth and contrast as the cat matures. We also breed polydactyl Maine Coons, which carry the naturally occurring extra toe trait. Polydactyl kittens are TICA-registerable and make wonderful pets; they are simply a different structural expression of the breed.

Why do you keep only three breeding females?

This is a deliberate choice, not a limitation. With three queens, every litter gets direct personal care from Samuel — no staff, no outsourced whelping, no kittens raised in a separate room. Kittens are handled daily, socialized in a home environment, and monitored closely from birth through placement. Keeping the program small is how we maintain the quality and attention that a larger operation cannot offer.

Is Dashing Coons registered with TICA?

Yes. Dashing Coons is a registered cattery with The International Cat Association (TICA). Our kittens are registered through TICA and go home with paperwork. TICA registration means the cattery operates under a published code of ethics and that breeding records are documented — it is one of the clearest signals that a breeder is operating transparently.
