The AI Tools Every Cattery Owner Should Be Using in 2026

Dashing Coons
July 10, 2026

Two years ago, running a cattery meant doing everything manually — writing every listing by hand, answering the same questions over and over in DMs, trying to remember which family wanted a blue smoke female and which one was flexible on color. It was exhausting, and it scaled terribly.

In 2026, AI has changed that equation completely. Not in a "robots are taking over" way — in a "I can now do in 20 minutes what used to take me three hours" way. Here are the tools that have actually made a difference in how we run Dashing Coons.

ChatGPT and Claude for Writing

The most immediate win for most cattery owners is using AI for writing. Kitten listings, FAQ responses, social media captions, email templates, blog posts — all of this can be drafted with AI and then edited to match your voice.

The key is learning how to prompt well. "Write a kitten listing" produces generic garbage. "Write a kitten listing for a 10-week-old black smoke polydactyl male Maine Coon from European bloodlines, named Titus, who is bold and curious, for a family that wants a confident companion" produces something you can actually use.

We use Claude for longer-form writing (it handles nuance and tone better for extended pieces) and ChatGPT for quick tasks and brainstorming. Both are worth having access to.

Canva AI for Visual Content

Canva has integrated AI tools that make creating professional-looking graphics genuinely accessible to people who are not designers. The AI background remover, the text-to-image generator, and the Magic Design feature have all saved us significant time on social media content.

For cattery owners, the most useful feature is the ability to create consistent branded templates. Once you have your colors, fonts, and logo set up, you can generate new posts in minutes rather than hours.

Notion AI for Organization

Notion with AI integration has become our central hub for cattery management. We use it to track our waitlist, manage kitten development notes, store health records, and draft communications. The AI can summarize notes, draft emails from bullet points, and help organize information in ways that would have taken much longer manually.

If you are still managing your waitlist in a spreadsheet or — worse — in your head, Notion is worth the learning curve.

AI for Social Media Strategy

One of the most underused applications of AI for cattery owners is social media strategy. You can describe your cattery, your audience, and your goals to an AI and ask it to generate a content calendar, suggest post ideas, write captions, and identify the best times to post.

We have used AI to generate months of content ideas in a single session. Not all of them are good — but even if 30% are usable, that is a significant time savings.

The Honest Caveat

AI is a tool, not a replacement for your voice, your expertise, or your relationships with buyers. The cattery owners who use AI most effectively are the ones who use it to handle the repetitive, time-consuming tasks — so they have more time for the things that actually require a human: building relationships, caring for their cats, and making the judgment calls that no AI can make for you.

We are building out a full resource hub for cattery owners who want to use AI effectively. Stay tuned to the Cattery Business Blog for more.
