Deposits & Reservations: How It Works
Reserving a kitten from Dashing Coons is a conversation, not a checkout flow. Here is what the process looks like from first contact to the day your kitten comes home.
Reach out — call, text, or use the contact form
The first step is simply getting in touch. Call or text Samuel directly at 618-973-6926, or use the contact form if you prefer to write. There is no commitment at this stage — just a conversation about what you are looking for and what is available or coming up.
Finding the right match
Samuel will ask about your household, your lifestyle, and what you are hoping for in a kitten — coat pattern, temperament, whether you are interested in a polydactyl, and so on. This is not a formality. A good match matters for the kitten as much as it does for you, and it is worth taking the time to get it right. If the current litter is not the right fit, Samuel will be honest about that and let you know what is coming up next.
Placing a reservation deposit
Once you have decided on a kitten and Samuel has confirmed the match, a deposit holds your spot in the litter. The deposit amount is $1,000.
Deposit refund policy: Deposits are non-refundable but fully transferable to another litter. Samuel will walk you through the terms before you commit to anything.
Updates while you wait
After your deposit is placed, Samuel stays in touch. You will get photos and updates as the kitten grows — first eyes open, first steps, personality starting to show. Kittens are raised in the home from birth, so by the time yours is ready to go home, it will already be comfortable with people, handled daily, and well on its way to being socialized.
Pickup or delivery in the St. Louis area
Dashing Coons is based in Ballwin — local families are welcome to pick up their kitten in person. Samuel encourages a visit so you can meet the kitten in the environment it was raised in before bringing it home.
For families in the broader St. Louis metro area, hand-delivery can be arranged. Out-of-area travel is handled on a case-by-case basis — reach out to discuss what works for your situation.
What goes home with your kitten
Every kitten leaves with TICA registration paperwork, a written health contract, and DNA test results from the breeding cats. Samuel remains reachable after the sale — the same number you used to reserve your kitten is the number you call if you have questions six months down the road.
A note on how this program works
Dashing Coons keeps a maximum of three breeding females. That is a deliberate choice — not a limitation to grow past. It means every litter gets full attention, every kitten is raised in the home rather than a separate facility, and Samuel knows each one individually before it goes home. Kittens are limited as a result, and the waitlist fills. If you are serious about a kitten from this program, the best thing you can do is reach out early and start the conversation.
