Our Health Guarantee

Health guarantees matter most when you understand what is behind them. Every breeding cat at Dashing Coons is DNA-screened through UC Davis VGL / Optimal Selection for HCM, SMA, and PKDef. Current panels are being refreshed as part of our 2026 start-fresh health program. Dated reports are shared with serious buyers on request.

The guarantee covers genetic health. It does not replace good veterinary care, and it does not cover illness, injury, or conditions unrelated to hereditary genetics. The written contract spells out exactly what is included, what is required of you as the new owner, and how a claim works if you ever need to use it.

What the guarantee covers

Both guarantees cover genetic health — meaning hereditary conditions that trace back to the breeding cats. Because Dashing Coons tests every breeding cat before producing a litter, the risk of passing on known heritable conditions is addressed at the source, not just papered over after the fact.

The guarantee does not cover conditions caused by environment, accident, illness, or owner care decisions. It also does not apply if the kitten is not kept on the recommended veterinary schedule outlined in the contract. The full list of inclusions, exclusions, and owner responsibilities is in the written contract you receive at the time of sale.
